Wow! It was so busy last term I just didn't get around to blogging at all!
First up we had two incredible Presentation Nights with students from all stages acting and performing in shows that they helped to write and devise. Congratulations to all of them - so much creativity and ingenuity on display from all of the age groups.
Then I headed over to deliver all day workshops at Dr. Radcliffe's Primary School in Steeple Aston as part of their Performing Arts week. What a fun day. I created bespoke workshops for each class based on what their teachers had asked for and the results were engaging, entertaining and so much fun. Not only that I also ran a workshop for parents which was great and may even lead to some adult NOSD classes....
And now the summer has started, so while all of the parents and students of NOSD get a well deserved break, I am plying my trade in London. Using my voice on recordings for Vocaleyes at the National Theatre, working on the immersive Midsummer Night's Dream at the Bridge Theatre or trying not to burst into laughter writing for Book of Mormon in Manchester.
Still, nothing quite compares to my Wednesday's with the NOSD gang and it will be so lovely to see them all again in September.
In the mean time Happy Holidays!!
Well, here I am on the 1st January and already I am thinking about what an exciting year of Drama is ahead for NOSD. Our usual Presentation Evenings wil be taking place in the Spring and Summer terms including our first ever performance from our new Eynsham students. We have already explored many ideas in our Autumn sessions and I have been busy putting pen to paper to form the childrens ideas into a workable script. Looking forward to being back with everyone next week.
As we are now in our final week of the Autumn term before the Christmas holdiays I have been reflecting on all of the wonderful work done since September. I am still regularly surprised and entertained by our fabulous students. Their ability to embrace new things and the camaraderie that is shown in each group is so impressive. They make me laugh each week and never fail to make me proud.
Thank you to all of our parents and carers too - wothout you bringing them along each week there would be no NOSD.
I hope everyone has a restful and peaceful Christmas.
See you all in January!
It is so exciting to be starting back next week. It has been a lovely summer break - not to mention a very hot one! This time of year we always welcome many new students to NOSD and this Autumn we are welcoming a whole new branch of the school. Eynsham is a great addition ot the work we already do at Bicester and Steeple Aston and I look forward to meeting all those who have signed up next Monday. At Steeple Aston and Bicester so many of our students will be moving up to the next stage - this is such an exciting move for each child as they continue their NOSD journey and I can't wait to see what they bring to their new classes.
Here's to another brilliant year!
Over the last two weeks Fran Godsal has ben running taster sessions for NOSD in the Baptist Church Hall in Eynsham and the response has been fantastic. We are delighted to be able to announce that we will be opening in Eynsham this coming September. The turn out for our taster sessions was brilliant and Fran was especially impressed with the level of talent and creativity shown by the chidlren who came along. It's not too late to get involved - your child's first session with NOSD is always free so if you missed out over the last couple of weeks get in touch and book in for September.
A huge congratulations to all of our students who took their LAMDA exams in March. Results are in and everyone passed with either Merit or Distinction. They were all amazing and worked really hard to achieve their results. Well done to all. Our next set of Exams are on May 20th!
First day back of our summer term. The Easter break was well desverved and we finished in style at NOSD with our amazing Presentation Nights. All of our talented students took to the stage and showed just why they are a joy to work with - such creativty from all branches of the school and over all age groups. I was so very proud. We had incredible support, once again, from all of our parenst and carers. This term I am returning to teach at Bicester as well as continuing at Steeple Aston. I am looking forward to seeing the Bicester gang regularly once more - I have missed them! The wonderful Fran Godsal is continuing her excellent work at Bodicote - lucky them! It''s going to be another busy term with lots of Drama going on and another set of LAMDA examiantions on May 20th. Let's get started!
Classes are almost due to start back and I am so excited as Spring Term is Show Term! We have already begun preparations for our annual Presentation Evening which will take place, as usual, in March. This year is especially exciting as for the first time we will bring together all three branches of NOSD to share our work and enjoy some fantastic perfromances. I for one cannot wait to see what ideas and characters are brought to the stage. Put the date in your diary and I'll see you all at Steeple Aston Village Hall for a lovely evenings entertainment.
Bicester Stage Two, Steeple Aston Stage One and Two, Bodicote Stage One. Wednesday 21st March.
Bicester Stage Three, Steeple Aston Stage Three, Bodicote Stage Two and Three (mixed class). Friday 23rd March.
Well. Here we are a week into term at Drama and what a busy and jam packed week it has been. We have welcomed two new teachers to the school, Fran Godsal who will be facilitating drama at Bodicote and Louise Coker-Taney who will doing the same at Bicetser. All of the classes kicked off with their usual enthusiasm and creativity - so good to be back with such a great bunch of young people!
Louise is also heading up our Talent Agency and has organised an agency day on the 7th Oct at Steeple Aston Village Hall where clients can get photos taken and make a mini showreel.
LAMDA has begun this week and we have a new partnership with Dr. Radcliffe's Primary School where we will be teaching classes during school time to give as many pupils as possible the chance to take part in this exciting opportunity. Our NOSD LAMDA lessons will begin as usual in January.
Have a lovely Autumn Term everyone.
The summer is here. What a great year it has been for the school. Excellent origonal, devised work was produced by the students from all three branches of the school. Plays about hope, friendship and family mixed with some humour, physical theatre, music and audience interaction. The level of creativity and imagination has been outstanding. Along with this our new Agency goes from strength to strength with our young performers gaining auditions for adverts, movies, TV shows and modelling. LAMDA was once again a huge sucess with 100% pass rate and no student receiving less than a Merit for their exam. I am so very proud of all fo the work done at the school and thankfull to all of our parents and carers for your continued support.

This is a very exciting opportunity for our students and we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the meeting.
Once again we will be having open classes at the school on the following dates.
Wednesday 6th July at Steeple Aston and Thursday 14th July at Bicester.
We look forward to seeing as many parents there as possible – and yes, there will be cake!!
It has been a very busy start to our Spring Term. Lots of work is going into our annual Presentation evening. The students are giving their all and that includes the actual pieces they will be performing. They have devised their own original short plays for your entertainment. So we are all looking forward to welcoming parents and carers along on March 23rd to see the results.
On another note out LAMDA candidates are almost half way through their programme of study for their performance exams. They are delighting me every week with their good humour, hard work and endless enthusiasm. The exam this year will be on April 17th so keep an eye out in the summer for the results.
The new term for both branches of the school starts next week. This term we will be exploring our voices and using sound scape, music, song and language to build our vocal skills throughout the stages. Really looking forward to working with all of the children on what promises to be an exciting programme of work.
Many congratulations to all of our NOSD students who took their LAMDA exams in Acting in June of this year. The results are in and all candidates passed with no one achieving any mark lower than a Merit and over 10 Distinctions. Would your child be interested in participating in LAMDA? Click on the LAMDA page of the website for more information.
We would like to wish all of our students, parents and carers a lovely summer holiday. Thank you for all of your support over the last year.
Classes resume in September. See Term Dates for details.
The school would like to wish all of our 15 candidates taking their LAMDA exams this Saturday the very best of luck. You have all worked extremely hard to get to this point – so enjoy the day!!
Open Classes for the End of Term.
Steeple Aston Wed 8th July and Bicester Thurs 2nd July.
Once again the North Oxfordshire School of Drama will be welcoming parents to come along and watch their children participate in their drama class. These informal gatherings at the end of the year allow parents to meet each other over tea and coffee and enjoy the class that they drop their children off to each week. The children have been exploring many themes this term and we aim to demonstrate some of our completed work and show mums and dads just what our classes are like. We look forward to seeing you all there.
